The Trakt streaming catalog is what turns your Trakt.tv account into browseable rows inside Stremio: your watchlist, your history, your recommendations, and more — all with posters, right on the home screen. This guide shows you the fastest ways to get it working.
What Is the Trakt Streaming Catalog?
Trakt.tv tracks what you watch, and the Trakt streaming catalog brings that data into Stremio as catalog rows. Instead of hunting through search, you get personalized rows that update automatically:
- Trakt Watchlist (Movies and TV Shows)
- Trakt History (Movies and TV Shows)
- Trakt Recommendations (Movies and TV Shows)
These rows appear in Stremio’s Discover section and work exactly like the built-in Cinemeta catalogs — you can open them, browse them, and play any title.
Method 1: Use the Official Trakt Integration (Recommended)
Stremio now has native Trakt integration. Enabling it takes less than a minute:
- Open https://www.stremio.com/acc-settings in your browser.
- Go to the Integrations tab.
- Next to Trakt Scrobbling, click Authenticate.
- Log in to your Trakt account and allow the connection.
That’s it. Stremio automatically installs the Trakt Integration add-on, which adds the Watchlist, History, and Recommendations catalogs to your Discover screen.
Note: The built-in Trakt Integration catalogs are not customizable — you get the defaults above. If you want fully custom rows, use mdblist (Method 2).
Method 2: Add Custom Trakt Lists with mdblist
mdblist lets you turn any Trakt list (yours or public ones) into a Stremio catalog row.
- Create an account at https://mdblist.com and log in.
- Go to Settings and link your Trakt account.
- Choose which Trakt lists to sync (Watchlist, Favorites, History, custom lists).
- Copy the Stremio add-on URL mdblist provides.
- In Stremio, go to Add-ons → Install via URL and paste it.
Your Trakt lists now appear as their own catalog rows. Full setup details are in our mdblist guide.
How to Browse Your Trakt Catalogs
- Open Stremio and go to the Discover tab.
- Scroll down — your Trakt rows appear alongside the default catalogs.
- Open a row (e.g., Trakt Watchlist) and pick any title.
- Select a stream from your installed add-ons and press Play.
Fixing a Missing Trakt Catalog
If your Trakt rows don’t show up:
- Check the add-on is installed. Go to the puzzle piece icon → My Add-ons and confirm Trakt Integration (or mdblist) is present and enabled.
- Re-authenticate. Open https://www.stremio.com/acc-settings → Integrations and re-authenticate Trakt. Expired tokens are the most common cause.
- Reinstall the add-on. Remove it from My Add-ons and install it again.
- Restart Stremio after re-authenticating so the catalog refreshes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Trakt streaming catalog free?
Yes. Trakt’s free plan is enough for watchlists, history, and recommendations in Stremio. A VIP account adds features like advanced stats, but isn’t needed for the catalog.
What’s the difference between Trakt Integration and the Trakt TV add-on?
The official Trakt Integration add-on (installed automatically when you enable scrobbling) provides the default History, Watchlist, and Recommendations rows. Community Trakt TV add-ons offer extra catalogs and are found in Stremio’s add-on catalog.
Can I combine Trakt with mdblist?
Absolutely. Many users run the official Trakt Integration for scrobbling plus mdblist for fully custom list rows. They work together without conflicts.
